Description
Join us for the launch of a short 10-minutes documentary, screened for the first time as part of the EU-funded Green Trail Concept project and the Kilian Jornet Foundation. This documentary explores the intersection between mountain sports and the environment, asking a fundamental question: Can trail running become sustainable and a force for good in mountain conservation?
As part of the project, we have developed a certification tool to support trail running race organizers in making their events more sustainable. This tool is built around the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic, and helps organizers assess and improve their impact.
Through visuals, personal reflections from athletes, interviews to race organizers, environmental team managers, and runners, the documentary invites the audience to reflect on the evolution of trail running – from local community mountain experiences to global, professionalized events – and the urgent need for sustainable practices in the face of environmental and social challenges.
Come and join us to dive into the motivations behind the Green Trail Concept Certification Tool, co-created with trail organizers, land managers, and local communities. And enjoy the different stories that highlight inclusivity, local economic impact, and the role of sport in reconnecting people with nature.
The screening will be followed by a short Q&A and discussion on how mountain events can become drivers of regenerative, inclusive, and responsible recreation.
