Focus Session 3.110: Balancing Conservation with Sports: Sustainability Challenges and Solutions
Length: ~5–7 km
Participants: limited participation
Join us for a Running Minds event: an interactive community run that brings together scientists and outdoor enthusiasts to reflect on the intersection of mountain sports and environmental conservation. Organized by the Kilian Jornet Foundation, this 5–7 km run offers participants the chance to engage in meaningful conversation while exploring the natural surroundings of Innsbruck.
We will introduce the Kilian Jornet Foundation, its mission to protect mountain environments, and some of the projects we have currently ongoing. We will guide a conversation focused on the Green Trail Project and the broader challenges and solutions at the intersection of outdoor sports, sustainability, and protected landscapes.
After the run, we will gather for coffee to continue exchanging ideas in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The event is open to all IMC attendees interested in reconnecting with nature, their peers, and the pressing environmental issues that affect our mountains.
Whether you are a scientist, policymaker, athlete, or simply someone who enjoys the outdoors: this is a space to share perspectives, build community, and move together toward more sustainable mountain practices.
