The Golija-Studenica Biosphere Reserve was established in 2001 as the first protected area with this status in Serbia. It is located on the western edge of the Dinaric Alps. The Reserve’s territory encompasses almost 5,000 inhabitants in 25 rural settlements, thus representing a symbiosis between the local population, natural beauties, and cultural heritage.
