Hintereisferner 1st Day Common travel (chartered bus) from Innsbruck to Vinschgau/Val Venosta in Northern Italy and overnight stay. 2nd Day Drive to Kurzras/Maso Corto (2004 m).Cable car to Grawand/Coda Grigio (3251 m). Descent to Schöne Aussicht / Bella Vista hut (2860 m, 0.5 h) and ascent to Im Hintern Eis (3270 m, 1.5 h).

Descent back to Kurzras (2.5 h) with possible recreation at the Schöne Aussicht / Bella Vista hut. Return trip to Innsbruck. Visit the unique infrastructure of a permanent terrestrial laser scanner above Hintereisferner and enjoy a great view on one of the best-studied mountain glaciers. Topics of interests cover in-situ monitoring and remote sensing of glaciers and glacierized catchments as well as monitoring infrastructure and monitoring strategies. At our overnight stay and during the walk we will find time to discuss recent developments in the above-mentioned issues. About the Special Event

Details about the Excursion

Details about the Excursion will be updated on a regular basis

Air temperatures in September can lie below 0°C and some snow is expected on north exposed slopes. Bring good shoes and protection against cold, wind and sun. All paths the excursion will take are marked hiking trails, except the last 200 m to access the laser scanner.

Registration is obligatory and possible via the #IMC22 Conftool at a later time.
