A Community Run on Outdoor Sports & Sustainability
BACKGROUND
Join us for a Running Minds event: an interactive community run that brings together scientists and outdoor enthusiasts to reflect on the intersection of mountain sports and environmental conservation. Organized by the Kilian Jornet Foundation, this 5–7 km run offers participants the chance to engage in meaningful conversation while exploring the natural surroundings of Innsbruck.
We will introduce the Kilian Jornet Foundation, its mission to protect mountain environments, and some of the projects we are currently working on. The guided conversation will focus on the Green Trail Concept project and the broader challenges and solutions at the intersection of outdoor sports, sustainability, and protected landscapes. After the run, we will gather for coffee to continue exchanging ideas in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The event is free but has limited spots, so early registration is recommended.
This run is the first in a series of #IMC events exploring the complex relationship between recreation and conservation in mountain landscapes. Through interactive experiences, discussions, and film, these sessions address the challenges and opportunities of balancing outdoor sports with environmental stewardship.
Other events in the series:
- FS 3.110 – Sustainability, Recreation and Sports in Mountain Areas
- PE 3.110 – Documentary Screening: Green Trail Concept – Rethinking Sustainability in Trail Running Events
Whether you are a scientist, policymaker, athlete, or simply someone who enjoys the outdoors, this is a space to share perspectives, build community, and move together toward more sustainable mountain practices.
