The CUES site (CRREL/UCSB Energy Site) is operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) and University of California – Santa Barbara (UCSB). Located on Mammoth Mountain, California USA at 2940 m elevation, CUES has been in operation since the late 1970s.
