The European Alps in our focus
Regional Mountain Conference
The International Mountain Conference Series has shown to be a valuable format for international exchange between scientists among all mountain related topics worldwide. With the Regional Mountain Conference, we want to add a format that (1) connects researchers with experts and society and (2) that focuses on individual mountain ranges and topics. We are lucky to host the first RMC in 2026 – and the RMC2026 will focus on the European Alps. We are happy to provide you some first details:
- Time: July 5th to 8th 2026
- Location: Carat Congress Center und Unizentrum Obergurgl
- Geographic focus: The European Alps
- Thematic focus: Current topics from any discipline (e.g. water related topics, natural hazards and risk management, cultural heritage, land use change, forests, extreme weather, biodiversity and renaturation, (livestock) farming, large predators, renewable energy and other resources, mobility, …)
- Target audience: Scientists, experts; society (for selected events)
- Language: English
- Others: Holiday opportunities for family/partner in a beautiful mountain area
The full conference website will be ready in early November and the submission of session/workshop proposals will start mid of November 2025. If you do research related to the Alps, we would be very glad to have you on board – in case please save the date!
