Focus Group: Natural Hazards

Thematic Frame

Mountainous natural hazards are a worldwide phenomenon that pose a threat to communities, especially those with infrastructure located within valleys. The research focused on the mitigation of these hazards involves many different types of methods, including but not limited to, analysis of historical events, analysis with terrestrial or airborne laser scanning, and numerical modeling.

This focus group covers all relevant natural scientific aspects in the context of analyzing geophysical  natural hazards in mountain regions as well as handling risks and developing solutions for protection. The organizers of this workshop are experts in landslides and DEM acquisition, but contributions from people working on other natural hazards are also welcome.
