WS 3.126: IMS and MRD networking workshop

Details

Description

The International Mountain Society (IMS) is a unique association that brings together diverse institutions who share the goal of advancing knowledge and disseminating information about mountain research and mountain development throughout the world. IMS promotes sustainable mountain development through improved communication among institutions and individuals, with a particular focus on mountain ecoregions in the developing world. To further this purpose, the association publishes a quarterly journal, Mountain Research and Development (MRD), of which IMS is the copyright holder and publisher. It allows MRD to: – Publish high-quality articles in the three peer-reviewed journal sections: MountainResearch, MountainDevelopment, and MountainAgenda. – Be fully online and open access, ensuring a wide dissemination of articles in the scientific community as well as a broader community of practitioners, policymakers, and decision-makers. – Be truly international with close to 40% of authors originating from the global South and East. – Promote evidence-informed dialogue between science, practice, business, and policy through MRD Talks. During this workshop, we will provide more insight into the unique opportunities offered by the IMS and MRD through two short inputs, followed by a round of open networking and exchange among current and potential new IMS members. We invite all interested institutions to join us for some talk, snacks, and drinks.
